Christmas in the Christian understanding.
The Nativity according to the flesh of our Lord, God and Saviour Jesus Christ, also called Christmas, is one of the Great Feasts of the Orthodox Church, celebrated on December 25 in many Christian domination and on January 07 in others.
When the time was right, our Lord Jesus Christ was born to the Holy Theotokos (Mother of God) and Virgin Mary, thus entering into the world as a man and revealing Himself to mankind.
Why Incarnation (taking the flesh of a human) and becoming a man?
For Christ to become like us, to take our body and present us salvation through his crucifixion and resurrection.
