• Archangel Gabriel was sent to St. Mary and shared the good news that she was chosen by God to bear the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God

• The Angel revealed to her that the Holy Spirit and the power of the Highest will be upon her and she will conceive.

• St. Mary demonstrated full obedience to God and the angel departed from her.

• The annunciation fulfilled the prophecy in Isaiah 7:14 - “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel”
