East (towards the Altar): Asking for mercy and compassion.

North (Left side): To be heard and not rejected.

West: Blessing for the people.

South (Right side): Protection in God’s strength.

East again: Help, deliverance, and forgiveness.

The cross signifies redemption, the candles Christ as Light of the World, and the people respond "Lord, have mercy" three times in faith.
Candle Symbolism

A candle reflects a worshipper in God’s presence—calm on the outside but burning within. As it melts, its wax flows like tears, leaving behind a warm, guiding light that brings peace to those who see it.

Lighting candles helps us remember that Christ is the Light, encouraging us to live with purity and faith.
