Kandeel Explained

In the Coptic Orthodox Church, the term "Kandeel" refers to a lamp or oil candle.

Lighting these lamps in front of icons or in the church reminds the faithful that Christ is the Light of the World.

The oil symbolizes God's infinite mercy, while the lamp represents the Church as a source of enlightenment.

Together, they reflect both the physical light in worship and the spiritual light of God's presence in the hearts of the congregation.
