Story

  • The icon is in the center of the iconstasis just above the altar, meaning that the sacrament of Eucharist that Jesus instituted that night is the same sacrament we are offering on the altar.

  • Judas is either absent in the icon or portrayed in the background with dark shades carrying a bag of money.. to show he was overcome by the evil .. as the Bible describes “Now after the piece of bread, Satan entered him ... he then went out immediately. And it was night.”(John 13:30)
