St. Demiana grew up wishing to live a life of virginity, so her father built a place for her and her 40 virgin friends to live.

The Emperor pressured her father into raising incense for idols so she rebuked her father. He went back and confessed the Lord Christ, resulting in his martyrdom.

When the Emperor discovered that St. Demiana was behind this, he tried to force her to deny Christ but she remained steadfast in her faith.

He beheaded her and the other 40 virgins and they all recieved the crowns of martyrdom.
